Bishu is the largest wool production area in Japan, centered around Ichinomiya City, Inazawa City, Tsushima City, Konan City, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, and Hashima City, Gifu Prefecture.
It developed thanks to the abundant water of the Kiso River and the fertile and warm Nobi Plain, and has prospered as one of the world's leading wool producing regions.
The strength of Bishu production area is that many processes from thread to fabric are divided and collaborated within the same region. Many people work deeply in each step of the process, from spinning to spinning yarn from shorn wool, twisting yarn to create yarn, dyeing to dye yarn, weaving to create designs and weave fabric, and processing and finishing woven cloth.
Its technical prowess has been praised by famous brands around the world, and to this day, approximately 80% of domestic woole¹n textiles are produced in Bishu.
